Yes, of course the most discreet option for a man who has been married for 25 years would be to cruise the bars of Yoknapatawpha County. Nobody would notice!

I'm intrigued by Houston Nutt's role in all of this. What's the backstory to the lawsuit? Did the Ole Miss welch on his buyout or something?

When the first batch of NCAA allegations came out, a couple dated back to Nutt's time in Oxford. Freeze ran his mouth to recruits (and barely off the record to journalists) claiming most of them were Nutt's fault and that his staff only had a couple of technical violations. Patently untrue, and Nutt got nowhere demanding an apology.

IIRC, 9 of the 12 violations were Freeze's, but he hung them on Nutt in an attempt to save his recruiting class. Freeze and/or coaching staff also called several reporters and told them the same. Nutt sued over character defamation and a protective clause in his buy out, and they got the phone records to prove it.

An institutional power vacuum is part of it. Interim president. AD who answers to nobody and who cares nothing about ethics.

Interesting times at the old alma mater. Many of us are not at all surprised that his act proved to be just that.
