Running MLB First-Year Player Draft thread

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Comma Chameleon, Jun 7, 2007.

  1. I like that it's on TV this year, but I also think it's going to be awkward as ESPN2 tries to cram in analysis and bits between picks. There's only 5 minutes per pick, so it can't be like the NFL Draft coverage.

Anyway, David Price has to be the first pick. He's not only a solid pitcher, but he's a tremendous high-energy team player.

I'm anxiously awaiting seeing the Cubs fuck up their pick.

If you're going to televise the draft, at least have your first pick at the site. At least Price dressed up in his best golf shirt.

As opposed to some ridiculously gaudy and ugly suit like the NFL and NBA guys wear

I hereby predict the Twins will draft all pitchers, confident in the ability of Nick Punto to "grow into" the cleanup spot in the batting order.

I want Wieters, but I bet they go with one of the high school kids, Vitters or the pitcher from Jersey.

Cubs picks Josh Vitters, HS third baseman.

Interesting he is at the draft, but the No. 1 pick wasn't.

THE CUBS ARE ON THE CLOCK!

Of course, that clock has been running for almost 90 years...

Cubs take Vitters. Not a bad pick, but they needed a catcher. Maybe Arencibia will be there in Round 2.
