    Well someone has to panic.

This will be a strong four, maybe a five. And it will make Gulf Coast landfall in either Mexico or here.

To javaman: In my first 36 years, there were 38 hurricane hits on Gulf coast of either Mexico or the U.S.

In the past four and a half hurricane seasons, there have been 13 such hurricane hits.

I guess we both are right in a way.

I think the thread went bye bye in the great purge of 2006.

    Or 2007.

Thanks for the offer. Actually, if it does look like it's hitting between here and Mobile, I'll be working.

And if I am working, I'll make sure to link to the blog here so y'all can stay updated.

I'm hoping this won't be needed.

This is not looking like a non-event.

Well, damn. Can you get me a muffaletta anyway, FuerteJ? Or should I plan to bring you something from here?

    Now, we're learning.

Home Depot and Publix and Weather Channel executives .... start your salivating!

Ha ha ha -- this is a recessionary economy, you know, even for Home Depot.

I'm just glad I still have Grandad's transistor.

I have to admit that I'm relieved it's not coming here. After all, Fay might be gone from the radar, but it's not quite in the past here:

    That's a lot of nonwater.

That's about three feet. We got water 3/4 the way up the driveway in 1999 during Irene.
