With the first pitch in about 90 minutes, I hadn't seen one started.

I saw Fresno State in the super regional. They are a team that -- incredibly, without its ace pitcher -- has lived dangerously at times but managed to get it done. They definitely fit the mold of an Omaha Cinderella, like UC Irvine last year.

But I'm picking the ACC's drought to end, with Miami and North Carolina squaring off in the best-of-three championship series.

Loved the quote from the Fresno State coach from yesterday's AP preview story:
“You aren’t going to see a bunch of guys throwing 90 mph, and you’re not going to see a bunch of web gems out in the field defensively,” coach Mike Batesole said. “Offensively, we just came back from Tempe, and if you’ve ever seen Arizona State take batting practice, they lose 50 balls a day. We’re still working on our original bucket.”

As for the on-the-field stuff, looks like Florida State is following its usual pattern of stinking it up in the opener. Means they'll score about a hundred runs the rest of the CWS and win the thing going away.

Mike Martin's FSU teams are notorious for imploding in Omaha. This time, after tying it up on a three-run bomb, no less.

Speaking of Martin, I hated it when the broadcasters kept referring to him as No. 11 during the regionals. Got on my fucking nerves.

Granted one of the people was an FSU alum and played under him, but still.

That ball got out in a hurry.

Fresno State was counting on the Skullet to get them through the games.

ACC teams choking in Omaha? That NEVER happens.

Good to see my Miami prediction off to a rousing start.

    Josh Fields? F-I-L-T-H-Y.

His style seems a lot like Tim Lincecum's to me.
