Running College Hockey Thread

  1. Hey, give my UNH Wildcats some props. Winning at Maine is hard enough. Winning 8-2, that's just incredibly impressive - I don't care who you are.

Being someone who's from Minnesota and went to school at UNH, I have a good feel for both regions, and I have to say the WCHA has been "it" the last few years and I don't think there's any argument. However, I also see things swinging back a bit and as much as I hate to say it Maine looks really good this year despite the UNH game -- and is maybe the team to beat.

Next week I'm going to try and see the Michigan at Minnesota game while on vacation. Can't wait as I need my hockey fix.

Oh, and I've been in most NHL and college arenas and the XCEL Center is the nicest, period. Second place is Toronto (although I'm sure anyone north of the border would flip those if for no other reason than pride).

Minnesota finishes a weekend sweep of Wisconsin to cement their place atop the national heap.

But Tyler hirsch is out with academic issues, and that ould be a long-term problem.

Weird.. Hirsh with problems... does anyone besides me recall his freak out at the Final Five? Where he threw himself into the net?
Yeah.. the kids got issues.. and frankly.. if he doesn't get his head on straight he won't be going anywhere.

In the process of doing on a feature on a player who had committed to Brown last year for this season, but did get in – couldn't meet the academic requirements or something – anyways, he mentioned there was also some kind of ... I don't want to say scandal ... but something happend last season where there was a player or two booted. I think had somethign to do with cheating on exams or something. have any of you heard anything about this or can fill me in?

With BU utterly unable to put the biscuit in the basket this season, Jack Parker benches Kenny Roche, his top scorer, for Harvard last night...and still wins, 2-1 (after beating Providence 1-0 Friday). That is why Parker is a legend, and the 4-2-4 Dogs will be all right down the line.

North Dakota gets verbal from, 6-2, 215 lb. defenseman with the last name BLOOD... should be a good year when he gets there.

And the Gophers solidify their status as the top team in the land with an 8-2 thumping of Michigan on Saturday.

Three shorties, and 52 shots. A complete ass-kicking.

The Wolverines looked drained after a long week of playing.

Can someone direct me to a site where they have the national rankings, please?
