And that entire scenario you've laid out illustates the absurdity of any system that doesn't settle a championship on the field. Look at this thread: 20 pages so far, with most of the posts devoted to "if Team A beats Team B, then Team C ..." crap. We're making illogical arguments, but it's all we've got because it's an illogical system.

    Playoff. It's the only way.

And it's not coming for at least four more years. Everyone has been yelling playoff for years. There wasn't one created with the new TV schedules that kick in this year after all the crap that has gone on in the BCS. 1998. 2000. 2001. 2003. Hell, they couldn't even give us the plus-one game. So, this isn't going to change for a long time.

A playoff tournament will never happen in college football because it wouldn't be as profitable for the power conferences as the current bowl system. Or, more specifically, it wouldn't allow them to hog the profits the way they can under the bowl system.

    It's that simple.

And if the NCAA wants to force them to do one....the power conferences will just secede from the NCAA and form their own governing body, taking the lucrative TV and sponsorship contracts (especially for the basketball tournament) along with them.

How would it feel to be the owner of Rusty's in Manhattan last night?

I bet there are still people trying to get in the door.

FTWDK---Rusty's Last Chance in Manhattan, Ks..........right in the middle of Aggieville.......at one time last year, rated No. 12 in the nation of sports bars.

You're pretty much right. There are a few hard-core U-La.-La. and Tulane fans that dis LSU, maybe enough to fill up a Waffle House. But hell, you walk around the U-La.-La. campus and a good chunk of the students are wearing LSU gear. And LSU fans don't hate on those schools...they're too weak to root against.

SC will beat Cal. Didn't think so a month ago, but SC has gotten much better, especialy in the running game, while Cal seems to have plateaued. Chauncey Washington is excellent if he doesn't fumble, which cost SC the game at Oregon State. They're now letting Booty throw the ball down the field a little bit.

Both Cal and SC had "trap" games yesterday. Cal lost at Arizona, which has a good defense but is pitiful on offense, even with Tuitama back at QB. SC trounced Oregon, which is better than Arizona.

If SC runs the table, it will be awfully tough to keep out of the title game.

But Cal-SC is now played at a rivalry-game pitch, since SC just plays around with UCLA anymore and then smacks them by 40.

Ironic, isn't it, that when it comes to scheduling the gymnastics coach has more balls than the football program?

One regular-season trip outside of the Confederacy since 1965. Even Vandy isn't that chickenshit.

And you might want to check on USC's average attendance figures.

I'll believe Georgia at Oklahoma State when I see it. Until then, this "Pac-10 pussy" is outta here. You guys enjoy those second-place trophies in the courthouse square.

suzanne has a lot more balls than a lot of people

will a game in oklahoma count as a road game in your opinion? not a lot of jet lag there

pac-10 pussies... that's why they're in this situation

Yes, Oklahoma would count as a real non-conference road trip, not a 60-mile bus ride. We actually agree on something, and I'll change my side photo away from Lester Maddox as a peace offering. Now let's see if it actually happens.
