    Right.
I tried to find a list of tournaments that Riviera Country Club holds, besides the PGA event, and didn't have much luck.

That’s what I would expect. Between invitationals and general access juice, top ams I have known usually play all the top courses in their city once or twice a year.

Maybe it doesn't host any -- no idea. Just sayin' it wasn't a ridiculous statement by Dottie.

Neither claim it. For good reason.

I used to live a 9-iron from Riviera and can't recall noticing any tourneys other than the Nissan every year.

Did you live on La Mesa or Allenford? I have lots of friends who could have been your neighbors.

I used to rag the UCLA SID about his recruiting pamphlet. It had "things do to in L.A." and had photos of Hollywood, the beach, and Bel-Air Country Club, which is virtually across the street from UCLA. I can just imagine students popping over to Bel-Air for a quick nine between classes.

NASCAR was even worse. They'd show images of the Santa Monica Pier and they were 60 miles away in a deserted steel mill.

That’s why Patrick Ewing’s membership has been on hold.

My wife's family had a get-together at Bel-Air after her grandfather's funeral (he was a member). We were leaving straight from there to LAX to take a redeye home, so I wanted to change out of my suit and into something more comfortable for the flight. The plan was to change in the lobby restroom and then immediately leave. Within 15 seconds of changing and exiting the restroom I was escorted out of the building for wearing jeans. Like, I was leaving anyway but they had to make sure my jeans would not befoul their lobby. Wouldn't even let me say goodbye to anyone unless they came outside to me.

My wife's mom is a tennis member at Riviera. They're much less strict. She hates PGA week because they can't play tennis.
