UConn women over the last four seasons are 148-1. The one loss was by two points in overtime at No. 6 Stanford (who, by the way, bookended UConn's previous win streak). That's the only thing preventing a 154-game streak.

The region final, semifinal and title game could be relatively close -- Maryland lost 87-81 at home, Baylor lost to them 72-61 in Storrs, Notre Dame lost at home 72-61 and South Carolina lost in Storrs 66-55

Notre Dame will beat them and then win the title. [/sethdavis]

They only beat Florida State by two, 78-76, in the season opener. That rematch remains a championship game possibility.

The Brad Underwood hire makes me wonder what Bill Self would have accomplished had he stayed at Illinois. Certainly they would have dominated the Big Ten, or close to it, the last 14 or 15 years.

More on the women's tournament, and also on the perils of home-court advantage versus the perils of attendance. These four teams are coming to Stockton, Calif., this weekend. That's two hours from SF.

    South Carolina
    Quinnipiac
    Florida State
    Oregon State

I guess Stanford was the theoretical "home" team, but they were seeded elsewhere. Boy, talk about hearing echoes in an arena. Not sure where the money's being saved on this one either.

The NCAA takes an absolute bath on the women's tournament. But there's no way around it, the entire shebang has to mirror the men's in terms of structure.

How many teams in the women's tournament?

They don't have to have a regional in a small, destitute city 100 miles from the nearest good team ... and then not send that team to the regional.

What's worse, having to watch three women's games, or actually travel to Stockton?
