Multiple reports that Edsall is gone. Getting a jump on the Mid-Atlantic race for Greg Schiano.

Yeah, why would you want a guy who took a football shithole like Rutgers to six bowl games in seven years?

Because he'll always have his eye on the exits. And he also accomplished that revival in the latter half of his stint, when Miami, VT and everyone else was on the way out.

Schiano's record his first four seasons, while Miami and Tech were still in the conference: 2-9, 1-11, 5-7, 4-7. Year 5, when they went to their first bowl and the first year those teams were gone from the Big East: 7-5.

Lets remember some things about Schiano's time at Rutgers.

    1. He never won the Big East outright.
    2. Greg Schiano's record when the Big East had Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College: 3-24. Greg Schiano's record after the Big East got watered down with USF, Louisville, UCONN and Cincinnati: 25-24.
    3. Also, when he got hired at Rutgers, West Virginia had RichRod and Syracuse was strong to decent. In his later years he had Wannstedt at Pitt (who he owned), Bill Stewart at WVU and Greg Robinson at Syracuse. And despite losing Miami and VT and gaining boner coaches like Stew and Wannstedt he STILL averaged three losses a season.
    4. He's white James Franklin.

Edsall should get another shot. His stint at Maryland was a train wreck, and a lot of his success at UConn came in a watered-down Big East, but he still built something there.

    I'd take Edsall over Schiano.

Why is Mack Brown a candidate to be hired for anything besides assisted living commercials?
