My player of the year vote would have gone to Jordan Spieth. Had no status on tour at the beginning of the year and picked up one win and finished seventh in the FedEx points. Was on Prez Cup. Pretty incredible if you ask me.

And how is that close to winning majors or the amount Tiger won? Great story, not the player of the year, not even in the discussion.

    No it isn't.

The majors are acknowledged by all, including the players and the PGA Tour and the world rankings, as the year's most "important games." Plus, baseball players are dependent on their teammates to get the team into position to play more "important games." All the golfers have the same shot at getting to play in the majors, as well as the same chance to play well and/or win once they're there.

If the vote had been this week, maybe Stenson would've won. Took the FedEx Cup and its European Tour equivalent in the same year.

It was the PGA Tour player of the year, not the worldwide golfer of the year.

Just saying Stenson's 2013 deserves more acclaim than it's gotten.

Faldo wasn't eligible for player of the year or any other year because the award is PGA TOUR player of the year, and voted on by PGA TOUR players. Faldo has never been a member of the U.S. PGA Tour. He played tournaments off his world golf ranking or sponsor invitations, which he never had to solicit.

Yes it was. Rookie of the year, for sure. But not the single best player of the entire year.

Agreed. He was my second choice, behind Woods and ahead of Scott. When the Tour set up the playoff system we now have, they were essentially saying "these tournaments are the most important tournaments of the year". OK, whatever. But if that's the criteria and Stenson won two of those four, that should carry some extra weight, eh?

Stuart Manley, in the World Cup of Golf in Australia ... he was 3-under going into Saturday's third round.
    Here's his opening four holes:

    Birdie on Par 4
    Birdie on Par 5
    Ace on Par 3

    AND

    an 11(!) on a Par 4

that's his scorecard... no details yet.
