    I heard many stories of that as a boy.
    Floodwaters almost overtopped the dam.
    Caskets were washing away by the dozens and skeletal remains were found on roofs.

    Hurricane Agnes played one of the biggest roles in killing off the Eastern railroads. Lots of trestles were damaged and it was the tipping point for many to go out of business, leading to the formation of Conrail.
