    ... and this after missing much of last season with an ACL tear. The Whalercanes really need this guy.

    The Whalercanes can certainly use Brind'Amour's grit and uncanny faceoff ability. But Williams is a better pure offensive talent, and with Erik Cole foolishly dealt during the offseason, the injury will exascerbate the situation.

    Nowhere near as serious as Williams, but the Bolts' Nick Tarnasky will be out 2-3 weeks with a broken finger.
