I do not think he or his sister are playing the WSOP this year. Or, if they are, they've yet to cash at all ... and I just cannot imagine that.

Anabelle Duke just won the rock-paper-scissors championship Phil Gordon puts on every year.

Only one of Forrest's bracelets is in hold' em. He's a Stud specialist. He's a great player, don't get me wrong, but hold 'em isn't his best event.
Good call on Seif though. He's excellent too.

  4. Has it been just 2 years since Andy Glazer died? It seems like decades and its a shame he's so forgotten.

Hard to believe. I like Steve Rosenbloom's column in the Trib, though.

OK ... first day of the main event. Play starts at noon. Only 8k entries, with the "first day" played through Monday. The champ will be crowned sometime on Aug. 11. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a two-week poker tournament. The winner will likely have to play the equal of five full days of poker to win it all. I love it, but it's absurd.

I'm very disappointed AP didn't move something yesterday for today.

On the weekend enterprise budget, there are two items. One is about the explosive growth of the WSOP ME, the sidebar is about how players are more interested in the bracelet than the cash. I can see how these are good Sunday features, but I wish they'd done something for the start of the event.

It's kind of funny in that it's a big deal, but somehow not a big deal. It's been almost like it doesn't happen until ESPN starts its shows and it is an atrocious real-time event, but yeah, you'd think there  be something about the sheer spectacle of the first day ... though Sunday will still be "the first day" on the tourney sked.

OK, so how about predictions. Which "big name" will get the furthest?

I'm going to go with Mark Seif.
