    Yep. Can't see Dayton doing anything if he feared a 50-game ban.

    Agreed. If he didn't already know how that was going to shake out, they would have just waited until the suspension came down to decide on the deal.

    Damn. Didn't want to do this ...

    Fifteen days, not 15 games. Suspensions for performance-enhancing drugs are always measured in days rather than games (check the lede in your first post).

    Are you sure? Harsher suspensions are 50 days, not games?

    No, I saw that, but why? Is it 15 days for the first violation and 50 games for the second?

    Not certain. When Da Commish first announced the tougher policy, suspensions were in days (10, 30, 60 and 365). Then he and the MLBPA toughened it under public pressure, but it morphed into a game count (50, 100, forever) instead of days. And yet ... here we still have suspensions for days --- so perhaps the bans for HGH, greenies, &c. are different from those for using steroids.

    Maybe this really was negotiated. The evidence was of Guillen buying the stuff, not a positive drug test, correct?
