Boy I have no idea how the Orioles are going to survive that.

It's an AP news alert. There's no story yet. No poll, either.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Kansas City's Jose Guillen and Baltimore's Jay Gibbons were suspended for the first 15 days of next season by Major League Baseball on Thursday for violating the sport's drug program.
The pair were linked in media reports to the purchase of human growth hormone. So were Gary Matthews Jr., Rick Ankiel, Troy Glaus and Scott Schoeneweis, but baseball decided there was ``insufficient evidence'' to determine they committed a doping violation.

Whatever happened to 50-game bans? Are they laxing the penalties, or making up new ones?

I think Guillen got 15 days b/c he hasn't failed a test but admitted buying the goods.

And I'll admit I was wrong. I didn't think he'd get suspended at all.

Royals must have known this was going to be a relatively small penalty after signing him yesterday to a two-year deal. Can't imagine one of the cheapest franchises in sports paying out all that money for nothing.

Has anyone found out what drugs he was taking when he decided it was cool to look like howdy doody with a perm?

This is probably where the rumor started that Dayton Moore was negotiating with MLB on the length of the suspension.

More likely Dayton was just trying to find out how long his new prize would be out before inking the deal.
