Dead at 85. An amazing guitar player, although of course he'll most be remembered for hosting Hee Haw.

One of the very best guitar players that ever lived.

On Skynyrd's Street Survivors album, new band member Steve Gaines was just playing the hell out of his guitar on their cover of Haggard's "Honky Tonk Night Time Man." You can hear Ronnie Van Zant comment with awe: "Sounds like Roy." And it almost did.

    RIP to an absolute legend.

Gets to play with Buck Owens again. If you believe in that sort of thing.

My wife is a huge "Odd Couple" fan and watches the DVDs all the time with our boys. This inspired my son to learn the guitar.

    RIP, Roy.

I would have guessed that he died many years ago. RIP to an amazing performer.

There wasn't a stringed instrument that Roy Clark couldn't play like lightning. Guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin ...

In the 1990's I read in some lefty weekly rag a piece about how Hee Haw was an elaborate postmodern joke meant as a Marxist critique. I wish I could find it.

Hee Haw arose shortly after the debut of "Green Acres" on teevee.
    Hardly coincidental, IMO.
