Holy crap. Only 54. And this just a couple of months after the Angels announced they were dropping Physioc and Hudler and Markas would be the lead TV announcer.

    He's had some physical problems.

Also, he is the USC basketball radio pbp guy.

He was very underrated. I always felt comfortable listening to his broadcasts -- Angels and USC basketball. With his ties to USC, I hoped they'd bring him into the football booth to replace the jerk they have now.
    RIP, Rory.

I really enjoyed listening to him whenever we got an Angels home game on one of the Rogers Sportsnet channels.

    RIP

To be honest, I wasn't too happy with Physioc and Hudler being let go, but Markas always was a solid announcer and I was looking forward to hearing him on TV this season.

I immediately thought back to last year's brain surgery when I heard the news. RIP.

    Exactly, TV.

Markus was one of those versatile, do-everything announcers who did a ton of stuff in the LA market: Angels, USC, the sports on KNX-AM, you name it. He did it.

I heard this driving in to work on KNX this morning. The announcers were nearly breaking down.

RIP to one of the good guys in the biz.
