The natural evolution of political beings are roughly as follows:

    1)We're born democrats.

2)Our parents influence as best they can to see the light, whatever that light is that they've seen.

3)Public Schooling teaches us to be democrats.

4)We get to college and take an economics course. Even a keynsian teacher can't hold back our excitement for what we've learned about free market enterprise and how it makes the world a better place.

5)We become republicans if we think government ought to tell gay people how to live their life.

6)We become libertarians if we think government ought not to be allowed to tell gay people how to live their life.

    In summation,

Democrats never took an econ class.
    Republicans paid attention in church.
Libertarians took an econ class and didn't think much of church.

Was that supposed to be funny? Tongue in cheek? Or just absurd?

None of the above. Albeit a harsh simplification of things, it was was serious. So I'm guessing you'd go with absurd. *shrug*.

    Ok, i re-read what i wrote--It wasn't completely serious. 80% serious/ 20% tongue-in-cheek. But still serious enough to get a serious label.

Hmmmm, I took multiple Econ classes in college and came out with some fairly socialist ideals, and not because the prof espoused them either.

It is troubling how much support he's getting, in the same way it was troubling to see how much support David Duke used to get. Check his past, people.

Ron Paul's thoughts on Martin Luther King Day in a 1990 newsletter:

"Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for that pro-Communist philanderer, Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressmen. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it. We can thank him for his annual Hate Whitey Day."
