Agreed, Bob. I'd be up for pitching in.

After posting about a professional rough patch a few years back, Ron was one of the first to PM me and offer some much-needed encouragement.

We'd only shared drinks a few times, but any future outings will be much diminished without him. RIP, spnited.

RIP to a man I would've loved to have as my editor. :(

Baseball thread as well as NFL vs. MLB discussions will never be the same. Fitting his last post ripped the NFL for its mediocrity.

Never met the man, but this news has me incredibly sad.

I loved arguing with the guy.

I've been sick, so when my sore throat woke me up too early this morning, I picked up my Blackberry and started reading SJ. I clicked on this thread, not knowing who Ron Drogo was. As I read each post, with growing dread, I figured it out.

I never met Ron and didn't interact much with spnited on here, but this is a big loss.

I always smiled when a newbie referred to him as spirited. I'll miss that.

First time I ever cried over a RIP thread on this board.

If I had to pick just a few people who completely embodied the spirit and culture of SJ, spnited would have been near the top of my list. One of the few people here who not only could defend an opinion, but defended it with years of experience to back it up.

And I really, really, believed we could get him to play fantasy baseball, just once.

    RIP to a true legend.

RIP Ron. Met first in a hotel lobby, and he was rock solid, as you knew he would be.

Very sorry to hear this news. For his better friends here, I hope you're doing okay. Whiskey, I think. He'd like that.

    RIP.

I only knew him as spnited. He kept this place grounded -- as much as that's possible.

Terrible loss. Condolences to Ron's friends and family.
