    OK, you go out and try to sell advertising when your subscription base consists of 60-year-old stoners with a stash of Dead bootleg tapes in their backpacks.

    RS has done a great job of staying relevant to the right demographic, even though I'm guessing Wenner doesn't listen to much of the music they cover.

    13 year old girls are not Rolling Stone's demographic and never will be.

    And the parents of those 13 year olds are going to be pissed when they look in little Ashleaighey's magazine and see the ads for the wedge sex cushion in the back.

    When RS was the ultimate underground publication, David Cassidy was a cover subject.

    It's about the phenomenon, not a fan magazine profile. The Cassidy story fit comfortably with the latest Hunter Thompson dispatch. They didn't last this long without knowing what they're doing.
