I wonder what Quinn and his buddies yelled (in front of Quinn's twin daughters) at McDowell to trigger McDowell's disgusting and inappropriate response. I doubt that Quinn was a complete innocent and saying things that were respectful. McDowell was likely being an ass but I don't buy Quinn's "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" response holds water.

So stipulated that Roger McDowell is a Neanderthal, but what the hell is Quinn doing going to that press conference and putting himself and his family in the middle of Gloria Allred's national cry for help? He's not going to sue (or be successful at it anyway), he might get some free tickets, but really he's just causing a whole lot of grief for himself.

McDowell has retained a big time Atlanta Law firm- King and Spalding, so it must be a serious threat. Those guys are not cheap.

If they took on Roger McDowell as a client to defend him against gay slurs the day after punting the DOMA case, that would be pretty incredible.

According to the AP account, Quinn was not one of the three men that McDowell was initially making the homophobic remarks to. The way I read it was that Quinn heard and saw McDowell making the comments to other people, and then made a comment about children being in the area. That's when McDowell turned on Quinn.

Quinn said he proceeded to make crude sexual gestures with his hips and a bat.

Quinn, who was down in front of the field, then shouted, "Hey there are kids out here," he said during a news conference at the Los Angeles office of noted attorney Gloria Allred.

Quinn alleged that the coach replied that kids don't belong at a baseball park, picked up a bat, walked up to Quinn and asked him, "How much are your teeth worth?"
