Sounds like he's going to be, but not for some time. Didn't realize it was so bad. Matter of fact, saw last weekend's show with John Mellencamp and Roeper and thought, "Roger's still out?" Man, he looks like an entirely different person.

I've met the man several times... He's completely brilliant...

    I just hope he recovers...

    I agree.

Can be a bit prickly, but great at what he does.

    Best wishes, Roger.

My uncle had a similar surgery three years before he succumbed to the same cancer. They removed the jaw and rebuilt it. It actually didn't look bad, but he never regained the ability to talk like before the procedure. My guess is we've seen Rog on TV for the last time, but as the column showed, he can still write. And that's why we all appreciate him anyway.

He was supposed to be back in February for the Oscar show... It's been delayed a bit... I've watched the show since I was a kid. It's not the same without him, but Roeper and AO Scott are both pretty good... There's been a bunch of guest critics, but Scott's by far the best of the subs...

    Hope he's all right.

Not only is he a great film critic, he's also an excellent writer.

    Good luck, Roger!
