Seems like a good show, but a little too much light FM fare for it to be considered a true rock tribute, IMO.

    Metallica and U2 headlined tonight.

Rolling Stone twitter says Black Eyed Peas were there. I guess they're in the Hall of Fame now too?

EDIT: Bono's kind of . . . . OK, he talks too damn much. His band has put out some great music, but geez, man.

"Bono intros “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” with a long speech: “Here in rock & roll’s great cathedral, Madison Square Garden, think about all the pilgrims and pioneers that got us all here, the saints and the heretics, the poets and the punks that now make up the Hall of Fame. It’s a dangerous thing, this business of building idols, but at least, rock & roll is not at its best about worshiping sacred cows. It’s about thousands of voices gathered at once in a great unwashed congregation, like tonight. For a lot of us here, rock & roll means just one word: liberation. Political, sexual, spiritual liberation.”

Bruce Springsteen responds: “Let’s have some fun with that.”

Yeah Bono, "great unwashed congregation?" - I bet the crowd was 98 percent Wall Street, celebs, sponsors and hangers on.

Well, maybe in honor of Bono, they didn't shower for a couple of days. ::)

    Sounds, er, reads phenomenal.
Can't wait to watch it (even with Bono's crap)
Simon and Garfunkel, plus all that CSN and Simon solo.
    And B.B., too.
Oughta be damn fine to watch.

If you do BitTorrent, the entire first night can be downloaded here:

(and no, I haven't downloaded it yet because I don't have enough space on my hard drive -- too many Springsteen boots - audio and video - from the past few weeks to clear off)

End of November (don't remember the exact date) HBO is going to air a 4-hour edited version that combines both nights.
