I'm very familiar with the Rochester area and the paper. It's an afternoon paper, so deadlines are pretty lax, and they don't have a Sunday edition. The town has a small 2-year juco in it, and it really has no college-town feel. It also has Mayo Clinic and the 943 or so hospitals attached to it.

Also, that 2-year is apparently transitioning into a 4-year soon. Either that or they are building a brand new 4-year. Think it will have a good med school?

Another thing, Rochester has 3 big high schools and is within an hour of about 30 other towns that each have small high schools.

just don't get your hopes up about getting in on the Twin Cities pro action, though they do staff a decent amount of that stuff. more like 30 hours of uploading and blogging and some backup on the Austin circuit. hear good things about the paper at large though.

Are they just interested in a guy, or will they accept applications from girls, too?

I don't think they're interested in anyone. Position, at last check, is frozen.
