He had symptoms like that in 2006, and this is the first it's come out?

    Very strange.

Damn. A lot of that stuff seems a little too salacious to be believed, but good luck to Alomar in any case.

As for the suit, I'm not sure what basis she has.

Agreed. Not sure how she claim he knowingly had sex with her with AIDS if he wasn't tested himself until 2006, his reluctance to get tested doesn't factor into it for me.

If she thought he had AIDS, but had unprotected sex with him anyway, whose fault is that?

Of course, having unprotected sex hardly equates to $15 million either.

My bullshit meter is at Defcon-1 and I'm not normally the athlete apologist type.

    Thanks, gingerbread.

My jaw dropped further after every subsequent paragraph. This is almost incomprehensible. Isn't Alomar on the Hall ballot next year?

    A-Rod is ecstatic.

The timing doesn't seem odd to me.

    Well, except for this:
The suit was filed Jan. 30 in Queens Supreme Court. Alomar had it transferred to Brooklyn Federal Court Tuesday.

Amazing no reporter has noticed it for 11 days.
I'm going to be nice and keep A-Rod out of this one.

Yeah, I rammed those to thoughts together.

They should have been separate posts.

  10. Ginger, was Alomar's health known in NYC or around baseball but kept quiet for privacy reasons or whatever?

Yeah, this is the part that surprises me more than anything. Hard to keep a secret in that city, although he's kept a tremendously low profile since he left the Rays in '05.

Perhaps the illness also played a role in his decline after a great '01 with the Tribe.
