Heard Lowe tweeted yesterday that a defensman named Racki has been cut by the Thunder Bay Bombers. Details are sketchy, but apparently it involved giving up a silly penalty shot near the end of the deciding game of a championship series and subsequently getting clobbered in a fight by a pretty boy scoring center.

This tweet made me laugh so hard.

@pourmecoffee I went ahead and paid for the full @RobLowe subscription. Stuff behind paywall is unreal -- injuries, trades, everything.

It really makes me wonder if he legitimately thought he was breaking news or if he was just sending out something someone told him.

Well, Rob Lowe was in St. Elmo's Fire, the theme song for which was written by John Paar. Paar rewrote said song to honor Tim Tebow. It stands to reason that Paar and Tebow communicated, and perhaps this came up. Then Paar relayed it to Lowe in desperate hopes that Lowe will let him tag along on his next project. So as is the case with anything good in sports in the last six months, this story is really about Tebow.

We really should have known from the start that it would be the Brat Pack that would figure out the secret to monetizing online journalism.
