Road Trip: Kansas City

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by JackReacher, Dec 27, 2017.

  1. tremendous texas style /mindblowingly cheap strip clubs as well where almost anything goes for 5 to $10 --probably one of the best hidden secrets in the midwest if not america. Baby Dolls in Topeka, Paradise Country Club in Lawrence, All Stars. The Ranch, Pink Flamingo, Tommiknockers Roadhouse etc... Apparently Missouri has shut down all of their clubs recently and made them wear pasties and swimsuits before midnight so Kansas just took it to another freakin' level to collect the money across the border. The only downside is that the girls don't stay for long and move around quite a bit because the market is so fluid

  4. I swear to god during the 1988 final four, one dollar lap dances all night at Tommiknockers Rocadhouse around highway 24/40. Beer was more expensive than the lapdances back then... freaking legendary never to be topped! It was literally the wild west out there. Girls would start grabbing at your midsection to do all of the back room 'extras' to get bigger incentive based paydays since the bar is taking some of what they earn

Current resident, but not a native, so my opinions are borne of experience, not homerism. Feel free to PM if you need any quick suggestions because I could go on and on. As @exmediahack said, great, great city.

    BBQ:

If you're looking for BBQ, do yourself a favor and visit Q39 on 39th Street, convenient to downtown, Midtown/Crown Center, Westport, and the Plaza (also a location on the beltway in Johnson County, Kansas, if that's where you're holed up by chance). It's competition style, so a little pricier than standard touristy fare like Gates and Arthur Bryant's.

Really, it's hard to do BBQ wrong in KC ... if it's bad, it doesn't last. Joe's Kansas City is supremely popular, as mentioned, but make sure to go to the original gas station location at Mission and 47th in Kansas City, Kansas, just across the border from The Plaza. Yes, there will be a line. At Jack Stack, you'll have the steakhouse vibe and it's good (and pricier, too). My favorite location is the Freight House near Union Station/Crown Center

Other options that will give you street cred: Char Bar (Westport), S.L.A.P.S. (KCK), Hawg Jaw Brew & Que or Smokin' Guns (North Kansas City, just across the Missouri River from downtown).

I'm not a beer guy, but in addition to the aforementioned Boulevard Brewery, North Kansas City -- just north of the river from downtown -- has seen a bunch of microbrews, brewpubs, distilleries and the like open.

    A list.

OK, but how would you rate the strip clubs from 30 years ago?

Do you find it hard to creep on a particular dancer when there is so much movement in the industry?

  11. there was a good juice bar down the highway in Warrensburg on the Missouri side. Had a great time at the Million Dollar Fantasy Ranch! They got around the rules by not serving the booze, rock stars loved it when they blow through town. Huge tits and girls with good attitudes / down with the program/up for almost anything ... not a drain on the wallet either

good casinos on the northside of the city. much better comps at the Indian joints up the river.

Hit up Stockyards Brewing. My boy’s cousin owns it. It’s a real cool spot.
