Ripken, Gwynn won't be unanimous selections

Paul Ladewski's reasoning for why he won't vote for Ripken or Gwynn is completely asinine.

Here he is today, writing about how he won't vote for either because of past stupidity, because if there is one thing that obviously corrects past stupidity, it's more stupidity.

Here is the dumbest part of all this: What if everyone thought like Ladewski? These kind if clowns are only able to make these kind of "statement" votes because they know 90 percent of the voters actually respect the voting process and don't treat it like their own personal forum for asshattery. Let's say everyone decides that, because Cy Young or Ted Williams didn't get in on the first try, Cal Ripken can't either. So no one votes for Ripken, he doesn't get the necessary five percent, and he's off the ballot forever. But hey, at least we didn't disrespect the memory of Lou Gehrig, right?

Maybe Hank Aaron didn't get those nine extra votes because there were nine stone-cold racists out there who still had ballots, and hated the fact that 714 was no longer the HR record. Thank god we continue to honor those racist a-holes by keeping someone from getting every vote simply because Hank Aaron didn't get every vote.

    Paul Ladewski,

No one cares about the past. Just vote for who you believe should be in the Hall of Fame, shun the ones that don't merit entry and stop attempting to be the story, as opposed to the guys you're supposed to carefully elect.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Oz

  3. Seriously, who's more of an ass clown -- the guy taking a stand against steroids or that one guy every year who casts a vote for a player like Juan Samuel because he used to laugh at his jokes in the locker room?

La-dipshit should lose his vote. Honestly he just admitted that he didn't vote for players that he deemed good enough to be in. I'm sure he's getting off on the little bit of attention he's getting now that millions of people have heard of him for the first time ever. I'm sure his email box is flooded by fans from Baltimore and San Diego too. But it's writers like him who fuck it up and remind people of the giant asses that work with us. Hell he's done a good job of coming off as one of them.

BTW, I wonder how he voted in regards to Sandberg.

And auggie, the guy who votes for Samuel or Jim Deshaies is also a fool, though at least they're on the ballot. They must have done something to get there, even if they have no shot of advancing.

I still remember someone voting for Danny Tartabull a few years ago. Danny Fucking Tartabull.

But then, he did finish 12th in the MVP voting one year, and finish his career with 1,366 hits and 262 HRs.

Paul Ladewski was on with Mike and Mike this morning and he pretty much embarassed himself.

But he got to be on national radio, which never would have happened to a guy from the Daily Southwhatever, so he got exactly what he wanted for his phony sanctimony: Attention.

ESPN, giving attentions whores a megaphone for close to two decades now.

Wasn't he the first guy to sign a $25 million contract?

DD, a true salute. You absolutely nail it with this. Ladewski actually HAD to think things out this way to come up with this disingenious solution.

I'm saying he was great, but closer to Paul Molitor or Robin Yount great than Henry Aaron great.
