    He had open heart surgery in his mid-30s and made it a long time after. Way too young to go, but sounds like he was facing long odds to begin with.

    Did he have a family history of heart trouble?
    Mid-30s is way to young for bypass surgery.

    The story I read said his dad survived two heart attacks before dying but it didn't say how young his dad was when he died.

    DETROIT (AP) — The umpiring crew for Game 3 of the AL championship series Tuesday lined up in missing-man formation during a moment of silence for umpire Wally Bell, who died of an apparent heart attack.
