As much as I hate Tennessee, I'd say Smokey's in that group, too.

They're damn cool, no question, but LSU has a live freakin' tiger. That's gotta be up there.

CUBuffs.com says the new Ralphie V, which is a female buffalo named "Blackout," weighs 450 pounds.

MiketheTiger.com says Mike VI is expected to reach 600-700 pounds.

I think it's obvious who has the edge.

Another to throw in the ranks of top live mascots along with Mike the Tiger, Uga, Smokey, and Arkansas' 380-pound Russian boar Tusk I is ... Bevo. The longhorn bull weighs 1,800 pounds and boasts a six-foot rack.

North Alabama has two lions that are pretty cool.

I always thought Auburn's live eagle was pretty damn cool.

Indeed. That was one of the reasons I loved covering games there.

Bingo. The War Eagle circling Jordan Hare moments before a night game is one of the most criminally underlooked chill-bump moments in sports. Blows dotting a fucking I out of the water.

I don't know about that. We are talking about Ohio State students and spelling... gives me chills every time they correctly dot the right letter.

They may need to discontinue that tradition considering opponents, particularly of the SEC variety, are emphatically dotting the I for them lately.
