LOS ANGELES - Tom Poston, the tall, pasty-faced comic who found fame and fortune playing a clueless everyman on such hit television shows as "Newhart" and "Mork and Mindy," has died. He was 85.

Poston, who was married to Suzanne Pleshette of "The Bob Newhart Show," died Monday night at home after a brief illness, a family representative, Tanner Gibson, said Tuesday. The nature of his illness was not disclosed.

I had forgotten too that he was married to Pleshette. Shit, I can't believe she's 70 already. Man life's flying by. She was gorgeous back during the original Bob Newhart Show, and that sultry voice made her even sexier. Poston was great in "Newhart" as the dopey handyman (they need to release the episodes from that show on DVD like they have with the 70s TBNS) and seemed like a nice guy. I never met him, but I ran the original Web site for Bob Newhart back in the mid-late 1990s and got Poston's autograph in the mail. I remember him sending a picture and asking that I send a picture of him in return for his fan wall.

Oh well. Life is indeed a bittersweet symphony. RIP Tom Poston.

    RIP Mr. Poston.

Him and Newhart had great chemistry on that show.

    Sirs, Madames,

I love when Bob Hartley called him Peep. Have first season of BNS on DVD.
