Tim Greening, a columnist for The Times of Shreveport and its former Journalpage, collapsed and died today at his mother's home. He was a colleague of mine before I moved to my current job, and he was a prince of a guy. The news came from a dear friend who is in shock at the death of a close friend for the first time in her life. She is having a hard time tonight.

Tim was 38 -- and will be missed.

His last column, as best I can tell, ran Sunday:

Some of you knew Tim. If you didn't, let me respectfully mention the name of another Shreveport journalist and friend we lost way too soon -- Kent Heitholt -- and say they were similarly admired for their warmth and genuineness.

Teddy Allen is writing an obit for The Times. Take the time to read it tomorrow, and please pray for Tim, his mother, his sister, and his girlfriend.
