Not nearly as famous as the other Celtic who recently died, but certainly a fan favorite. Never knew he then became a firefighter. RIP.

A Beaumont Hospital baby, just like me and IJAG.

He was a big part of the brief shining moment of U-D hoops under Vitale, along with John Long and Terry Tyler.
He kinda pre-reminded me of Steph Curry --kinda the same basic model player, but in a different game that emphasized different skills.

Dumb question: When did they add the Mercy to UD?

(Never mind. 1990, when they merged.)

My father is a proud graduate of General Motors Institute. Except it changed to GMI Technical and is now known as Kettering, which is something he HATES with a passion.

Duerod was one of three NBA players on that U-D team, along with John Long and Terry Tyler
Say what you will about Dick Bitale but that was his team
