Stan Freberg, Acclaimed Satirist, Dies at 88 - Yahoo News

Creator of many creative and amusing commercials starting in the '60s and put out a few comedy albums at the time also. Pretty funny and clever guy.

My introduction to him was when my parents were going through their old record collection and found a Freberg album that they had. To this day, I still can't find this particular album, but the highlight to me was a Batman spoof where Ronald Reagan, then running for governor of California, played Robin and his fictional PR guy was Batman (or "Flackman").

He made several TV appearances over the years (he had a role at some point in "Roseanne") and also created those Encyclopedia Brittanica commercials that starred his son Donavan.

Aw, what a genius. Back in the era when ad writers had to be creative, not just stick some old song in an ad and call it good.

St. George and the DragonNet is one of his classics.
