God just ordered his favorite yodeler on 8-track (and cassette).

His ads were ubiquitous in the late 70s and early 80s. He sold more than Elvis and the Beatles!

Robin Williams: "Do you ever listen to that man sing and think "God God. That man's balls are in vice". RIP Slim.

He was a punchline to many because of those commercials in the 70s and 80s, but he was actually very influential.

Excellent. Yeah, his spots (as Bob alluded) were all over WTCG back in the day.

During the same time period, the intro ramp of one of Whitman's songs was the music bed for the WWOR-TV (might still have been WOR) top of the hour legal ID. If nothing else, the man's name reminds me of the original superstations.

    RIP

Slim was a guest star on the first episode of "Tush" in 1980. It was a Christmas show, and though I can't find the sketch on YouTube, my recollection is that Slim played a mailman delivering a copy of his album that Bill had ordered ("I've waited six to eight weeks for delivery...").

I always thought "Wim Slitman" would be an awesome porn name. RIP.
