    Another one from my youth.

James Best, who played Rosco P. Coltrane in "The Dukes of Hazzard," dead at 88.

James Best Dead -- 'Dukes of Hazzard' Sheriff Dead at 88 | TMZ.com

TMZ story said he had an acting school attended by Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds. Had no idea.

I love it, I love it.

This sucks. He was the best.

The Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite show growing up. My 7th or 8th birthday was all Dukes of Hazzard. Napkins, plates, balloons, the works, really. Full spread. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I shit my pants when I saw one of the stand-in General Lee cars pull into our driveway. Best birthday ever.

RIP Roscoe. Forever in HOT PURSUIT of them Duke boys!

I have a 40th birthday coming up in a few years. I'd be OK with it then, too!

I shot the shit with Tom Wopat at Apple Blossom one year. One of my career highlights. And Cooter used to have one of his stores or whatever not too far away in Sperryville. We used to go there all the time.

One of my best girlfriends ever loved Dukes of Hazzard. 36-26-36 in 10th grade. One day, I told her DoH was full of it and explained how the stunts were faked.

She broke up with me as a result.

    I still miss them.

Last I saw him, he was part of the Rectify cast. The mayor, I think. That was a couple years ago. Still instantly recognizable.

88? Wow. He didn't look like he was in his 50s when he was on the show. RIP

Another show from my youth that I enjoyed. And on a side note, I saw Tom Wopat perform once on Broadway in Guys and Dolls. He was really good.

I think he was a classicly-trained actor, which makes his role of simpleton sheriff even more interesting.

She probably looked damn good in some Daisy Dukes, too.
