RIP Red Foley

    I'm sure most of you didn't know him but, for those who did, Red died Monday morning at the age of 79. He was a funny guy, if he knew you, but he was mostly a loner who did his official scoring and minded his own business.

    One thing I can tell you about Red is that he knew more baseball trivia than anybody I knew. Whenever we had a question, we'd look around and somebody would say, "Ask Red," which then became the column head The Daily News, then later The Post, used for his question and answer column.

    RIP Red.

    surprised to learn he was only 79. he was still at the daily news when i began there in '78. what a press-box legend. :'( :'(
