    An American icon.

    I'm thankful I got to see him play a half dozen or so times over the years. Always amazing.

    Grateful that a lot of people got to discover him thanks to the O Brother soundtrack, although he had been tearing it up for decades prior with the Clinch Mountain Boys. He belongs on the bluegrass Mt Rushmore with Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs.
