Inevitable, but sad nonetheless. Still remember the commercials for walkie-talkies and CBs around Christmastime.

Better stock up on acoustic couplers for the TRS-80!

Is my Herald-issued trash-80 in the basement now a valuable collector's item? And oh, those fucking couplers!

I once expensed a $75 cab ride to buy acoustic couplers at Radio Shack.

Hadn't been there too often in recent years, but I always hate to see a longtime national chain like that close. Plus, they have a location in my town, and I hate to see another empty storefront.

An old Radio Shack ad is floating around on the Internet. Full page newspaper ad, 1980, 1981.

Every single piece of electronics on it, I can do with my phone. There's maybe 20, 25 pieces of gear. And every single thing is either built in or an app.

My phone can't double as a radio-controlled car. That was a pretty cool Radio Shack product back in the day. My Datsun 280ZX could get to end of my driveway in under 30 seconds.

The Weird Al commercial didn't save them?
