If heaven didn't need Gold Bond Medicated Powder before, they will after hearing his first show up there.

Dammit, all that time I spent on a stupid pun for my RIP Paul Harvey thread title, you used to actually post your own thread.

I loved The Rest Of The Story.

Embellishments everywhere, but they were five solid minutes of radio.

    What a legend. RIP.

To me he was the soundtrack of long road trips; he'd always pop up somewhere while surfing the dial.

The guy knew how to do radio and tell a story. But it creeped me out when he'd drift into quasi-racist stuff with his grandfatherly voice.

Funny, I've got the exact same memory. We always started family road trips early in the morning, and my dad would always have ABC radio on (or whatever affiliate carried Harvey's show then.) I grew up hearing -- and never getting tired of -- all those Rest of the Stories for years and years, even the ones he repeated all the time. After he finished up, in that distinctive, soothing voice of his, then I'd fall asleep for the rest of the ride until it was time to stop somewhere.

    RIP

He was a member of a country club I worked at in college.

He was really tall in person. College basketball tall if I remember correctly. Yellow Caddy, I think.

Friends, do you remember a time when penny candy was really a penny, men wore suits on airplanes and members of a certain segment of our society knew their place? Well, take a sip of Moxie soda, and you'll feel like you're back at Grandma's house ...
