RIP Norm Alden, "America's favorite unknown actor"

Norm Alden, the longtime character actor, died Friday at age 87 in Los Angeles. He played the owner of Lou's Diner in Back to the Future and Cameraman Bill in Tim Burton's Ed Wood, among his 2500 roles in TV, movies, commercials, etc.

And Upstairs, through the Pearly Gates, dozens of dead Hollywood types will soon be recreating "Cheers" with shouts of "Norm."

 

I've always admired actors like this. People who you see popping up everywhere, and anywhere, and kind of establish their roles almost as much by their past work as they do on whatever they are doing.
