I've always liked Clark. After he got canned by the 49ers he helped promote BART starting service on Sundays, saying in an ad he was looking forward to it, since, well, he had more time on Sundays now.

I remember how much crap Fontes took from people, but those were the glory years in my lifetime.

Good trivia - who is the only living coach who left Detroit with a winning career record?

    Bobby Ross?

    Nope. Gotta be Gary Moeller.

Yeah - Moeller finished up after Ross was fired, with a 4-3 record.

Monte Clark got dicked in SF. His Lions teams weren't bad, he had Billy Sims in his heyday, but they always seemed to get tripped up by the general franchise bad luck Detroit has.

It's long forgotten that the '83 Lions gave a really good 49ers team a big scare in the playoffs.

    Big scare?

    That game was OVER.

Eddie Murray missing a 43-yarder? Fucking bullshit.

    Poor Monte.

Still remember that game. Murray barely missed it as Genius Walsh was nearly taken out at the knees by the stinking Lions.

    Simon,

How much did you have on that game?

Not a cent. I have plenty of great crash-and-burn betting stories I freely share here.

What the hell is your point?

Relax, man. The way you were recalling that game -- and remembering how much you bet -- I thought you had some cash on it.
