RIP Michael Crichton

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Small Town Guy, Nov 5, 2008.

  1. My reaction to this news was "Wow - I had no idea."

My reaction to most of the posts on this thread was "Wow - some people here who couldn't do a high school JV gamer hold themselves in high enough esteem to criticize one of the most popular writers of the last 30 years as not being up to their standards? Wow!"

Michael Crichton wasn't a Hemingway but he never purported to be. He was a good storyteller of tales that interested him. He wrote most of his books with the idea of a movie to follow. For instance - the character of John Connors in Rising Son was specifically written with Sean Connery in mind. Crichton was a very, very smart man (Harvard educated MD) who warmed both hands before the fire of life. The world is poorer today for his loss.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
