Wow... I've read almost all of his older stuff...

Rising Sun is probably my favorite of his books. The book was 1,000X better than the movie.

    RIP.

Not that it wasn't time for the show to be done, but that explains in some ways ER being its last season.

I haven't read Next, but I think I've read all of the other ones and enjoyed every one.

ER ran its course a good eight years ago.

RIP to one of the best authors of our time.

Um ... all due respect to Mr. Crichton, but no. Not even close.

    Mr. Crichton wrote well-read books.

He created an iconic television show.

He will be missed by many.

This does not mean he was a great, or even good, author.

Best might have been a little strong, but I liked him.

Shocking news....whether he was great author or not, many of his books were a damn fine read

Perfectly acceptable. As a high school freshman, I tore right through Jurassic Park.

Has he even been doing anything for ER lately?

For about half its run, ER was one of the best TV shows ever. For the rest of it, it was As the World Turns in prime time and a much bigger budget. I think most credit/blame goes to John Wells/Lydia Woodward, however.

As for Crichton, RIP to a tall, famous author who gave lots of people enjoyment.

An very entertaining mainstream author, his work will be missed. Despite the unfortunate movie adaptation, I always enjoyed "Sphere."
