    Loved it too. Loved hearing Don Pardo say that SNL was being preempted that week for SNME, and then a promo would start about that night’s show. Great way to get excited.

    WWE tried doing it again in the late 2000s, and it just wasn’t the same because they were now televising good matchups live on Raw and Smackdown each week and having a taped show was, to quote Matt Hardy, obsolete.

    That was my thought, too. I remember seeing him headline Wrestlemania when I was 8. Had no idea he was only 19 years older than me.
