Here's a trivia question, while a few television series have had two people who have won or would win an Academy Award in its regular cast (like Douglas and Malden in Streets of San Francisco) can you name the only American TV show with three Academy Award winners in its regular cast? Hint: Only one of the cast members had an Oscar when the show aired and one of the cast members didn't win in an acting category.

The Shield. Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker won acting awards, and I remember Walton Goggins winning a few years ago as the producer of the short subject winner, IIRC.

Not correct. Goggins wasn't an official winner of the Oscar. And though Close has five Oscar noms, she's never won.
Another hint. The show was pre-cable.

    Was it pre-color TV?

No. It aired sometime between 1960 and 1980.

The last couple of days, the cable channels have been playing "Miracle on Ice," the 1981 version of the U.S. Olympic hockey team, starring Malden as Herb Brooks.

And this morning, Bravo ran an episode of "West Wing" with Malden as Bartlet's priest/confessor. Karl had to be pushing 90 when the episode was shot, but still looked very sharp.

Which western was Clint Eastwood in at one point? Gunsmoke?

    Rawhide, I think.

    Is Rawhide the answer?
