IIRC, that awful movie is really the only place you can get a good quantity of game footage from the 1980 Olympic hockey tournament. Clips from the U.S.-Soviet game are shown, of course, but you rarely see anything from the other games.

ABC (or whoever) holds the rights and hasn't released a DVD collection yet, which makes no sense because it would be preposterously successful.

Problem with the movie is you have to sit through 90 minutes of crap to get those 30 minutes of clips.

HBO did a really good documentary that had game footage of the whole tournament, and commentary from Brooks and the players. It covers everything from when the team came together through the Olympics and does a recap of every game, with footage.

Yeah, I didn't mean to say you can't see real game footage anywhere but the movie, Ragu. Just that I had read the movie contained more clips in one place than anywhere else (or at least it did for most of the last two decades. Maybe that's changed in recent years.)

I've had the same VHS cassette of the Russia game my whole life. But you're absolutely right. I can't believe no one has packaged it all together on a DVD.

I've never seen the gold medal game.

last time i recall seeing him in action was on "west wing," playing prez bartlet's priest. "what the hell were you waiting for?" 8) 8) 8)

rip to one of the greats.

opps! missed the other malden thread, since it was too-vaguely titled.
