Read the posted article about an hour ago on the Sun Sentinel website. Very sad.

I met Juan briefly a few times and can't claim I knew him well, but I always heard he was well-liked and highly regarded not only by sports co-workers, but throughout the newsroom. He did a fine job on the Marlins beat.

Worked with Juan during my time at 1 Herald Plaza. One of the really, truly good guys. Always positive, always flexible. Highly regarded.

He didn't lose this battle. He kicked its ass. Eight-month diagnosis and he beat that by 30 months.

    Fuck you, cancer.

Son of a bitch. Cancer sucks.

I always loved reading his stuff about the Marlins and baseball in general.

Jesus. 42. Same age my dad died. Way, way, way too damn young.
And I wish I didn't even know his daughter is the exact age I was when my dad died. That never really leaves you. Prayers to his kids, his wife and his other family and friends.
