    It turns out Jimmy Cliff played bongos on Nash’s recording and later covered it for Cool Runnings

    I remember that song on the charts very well, but I had never heard of reggae to know what I was hearing. 1968. Not till Bob Marley moved to Island Records and "Catch a Fire" came out.

    Got both "Hold Me Tight" and "Cupid" on 45s from a bargain bin at Longs Drug Store in California. They were "promotional" copies, so either a radio station dumped their format or put everything on cart. Wish I had kept those.

    This is the first song I remember hearing on the radio with a reggae beat.
