    Tremendous writer and thinker and chronicler of the terrible sad entanglements of the postwar world.

    I sincerely hope he was lucid enough to revel in Donald Trump's election loss. He wrote several essays on the eventual decline and fall of the U.S., based on our xenophobia and overt racism.
